Chelsea have maintained their good run of form under new manager Thomas Tuchel by getting the better of Sheffield United 2-1 away from home in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Mason Mount put the Blues in the lead after 43 minutes when he found the bottom corner following Timo Werner’s cross from the left.
The Blades restored parity at Bramall Lane in the opening minutes of the second half when Antonio Rudiger poked past Edouard Mendy into his own net.
However, Chelsea soon went ahead. Werner was adjudged by VAR to have been brought down by United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, and Jorginho made no mistake from the spot.
The result leaves the Blades in real danger of getting relegated from the Premier League, while the chances of Chelsea finishing in …
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists even an unprecedented quadruple could not convince him to backtrack on his shock decision to quit at the end of the season.
The German stunned the footballing world by announcing he will depart at the end of the campaign with two years of his contract still to run, having already communicated his plans to owners Fenway Sports Group in November.
What made the news so surprising is that the club are arguably close to being back to the peak of their powers, with a five-point lead in the Premier League and a Carabao Cup final to come next month, while they have qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League and are one of the favourites for the FA Cup.
But, unlike Sir Alex Ferguson, who in the summer of 2001 announced his retire…
The Football Association has launched a swift investigation into the crowd trouble which marred the FA Cup derby between West Brom and Wolves.
Play at the Hawthorns was suspended for over half an hour due to disorder in the stands and fans spilling onto the pitch.
West Midlands Police said two people were arrested after the disturbance and another was arrested prior to the match for possession of an offensive weapon, while a man was taken to hospital with head injuries.
An FA statement read: “The disorder that occurred at the Black Country derby between West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers is completely unacceptable.
“Safety and security are of the utmost importance, and the behaviour of those involved is dangerous and inexcusable.

In a London derby on Thursday evening, Tottenham will make the trip to an empty Craven Cottage when they face off against Fulham in midweek.
Fulham
Starting with the hosts, while Fulham might have managed to extend on their unbeaten run last weekend, the Cottagers know that they missed out on a golden chance to make up some ground. Still sat three points adrift of Newcastle and finding a route out of the relegation zone, Scott Parker s side had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Crystal Palace on Sunday lunchtime. Facing a tough run of fixtures that will see them face off against Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester City over the next fortnight, the former England midfielder should still find the mood in his camp at a high. Making a st…
Juventus assistant coach Marco Landucci replied negativity does not help when asked about Massimiliano Allegri s future after a shock 1-0 defeat away at Monza.
With under-fire Allegri serving a touchline ban, Landucci oversaw the Bianconeri, who mustered only two shots on target against a team that started the game winless and bottom of Serie A as Angel Di Maria was sent off for a petulant elbow on Armando Izzo.
Substitute Christian Gytkjaer netted a 74th-minute winner for Monza s first victory since their promotion, and defeat means Juventus have earned just 10 points from their first seven Serie A matches.
When questioned on whether he and Allegri still had the club s support, Landucci told reporters: We don t give up, it s not in our DNA.
I ha…

Vincent Kompany is not taking anything for granted despite Manchester City ending 2013 a point off top spot in the Premier League.
Victories over Liverpool and Crystal Palace have seen Manuel Pellegrini s side climb into second place at the halfway stage of the season, just behind leaders Arsenal.
City have won 10 of their last 11 games in all competitions, but skipper Kompany knows they must remain focussed in order to challenge for the league title.
Being top is important but in a way it doesn t mean too much yet, he told the club s official website.
We ve put ourselves in a nice position for the second half of the season. Ultimately it feels like we ve played so many games but we arrive in January and there s actually still not much between all the teams.

Marko Grujic will spend the season on loan at Hertha Berlin after signing a contract extension with Liverpool.
The new deal reportedly keeps the Serbia midfielder at Anfield until 2023.
He seemed to have a chance to remain part of Jurgen Klopp s squad after Liverpool rejected a loan offer from Cardiff City, where he spent the second half of last season.
Instead, the 22-year-old will link up with Pal Dardai s team pending international clearance.
Hertha BSC is a great club and the Bundesliga has always been inspiring to me, Grujic told his new club s website.
I had a few offers, but nobody cared as much for me as Hertha. Immediately I feel very confident that I can help the team.
Grujic has earned just eight Premier League appearances fo…
