Mario Balotelli has flown to Marseille to undergo a medical today (Tuesday) ahead of a proposed move from OGC Nice on a free transfer, according to the city s daily newspaper .
Having started his career with Serie C side Lumezzane, the controversial striker arrived to Inter Milan in 2007 and won three consecutive Serie A titles, including a 2010 treble under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. After that he moved to Manchester City and won the Premier League under Roberto Mancini in 2012. Halfway through the following season we returned to the north of Italy to join AC Milan, before making his way to Liverpool in 2014. When Jurgen Klopp arrived, Balotelli had been loaned back to Milan, and the German made it clear from the start there would not be a place for him in his team. In 2016, his contract was cut short by mutual agreement and he joined Nice as a free player.
Though his talent was never questioned, disciplinary problems have followed the occasional Italy international like crows wherever he went, and managers often turned their heads away from him as an option because of it.
Although agent Mino Raiola had offered his services to Sassuolo, it seems Balotelli is set to sign for Marseille, on an initial half-season deal worth €3 million in wages.
